Lulu Junior Author of the Month - Carson C.
We're starting the year with an exciting comic book adventure! This month, we’re featuring Carson, the talented author behind “The Monster Plushy.” Get ready to dive into this story of a plush toy brought to life—and the challenge our hero faces to save his town! Let’s get into it!
The story begins with a boy named Ricchie who wants his dad to make his plush toy real. Two hours later, we’ve got a plush toy brought to life! His name is Liam. The first thing Liam does is burp and Ricchie says “That’s disgusting!” Liam doesn’t like this, he says “People been mean to me so I will destroy!”
Meanwhile… there is a news report. The news reports that a plushy has destroyed half the town. Oh no, who is going to save the people of Bageltown??
Ricchie has to figure out what he is going to do. Liam said that Ricchie is mean to him so maybe if he is nice instead, he’ll be okay and he will stop destroying the town. Ricchie feels bad and realizes he must apologize for being mean to Liam.
Ricchie goes to find Liam. “Rawr!” says Liam. Ricchie yells to Liam, “Come get me!” Liam comes and Ricchie apologizes for how he treated Liam. Liam calms down. And they are back to being best friends!
Ten years later…
Ricchie is back home. Ricchie burps and Liam is the one this time who says “You’re disgusting!” They laugh and they live happily ever after!
This story reminds us of the power of kindness and why it matters. It’s amazing to see how Ricchie and Liam’s friendship stayed strong. A huge thank you to Carson for sharing this incredible story with us!

Where did you get your My Comic Book kit? Who gave it to you?
I got the “My Comic Book kit” on Christmas morning of 2023. Santa gave me that as one of my gifts.
Where did you get your idea for your story?
On Christmas morning, I also got a purple plushy teddy bear that I named Leah but in the story her name was changed to Liam. She is a girl, but in the story she is a boy.
How does it feel to be a published author?
It’s really crazy and mind-blowing because I love making art, I just was accepted into the gifted talented arts program, but I never thought I would be an author and an illustrator of a book. Literature was not something I would see myself doing. So to be recognized is so exciting.
What do you like most about telling your story through a comic book?
I thought long and hard about what story I could tell with my art. I was very nervous at first, but as I began, I got very comfortable with telling the story I came up with. Adding my art with it was the most fun of all. I already draw a lot but I have a different art style so that was weird to see it come to life.
What advice would you give to fellow comic book writers?
I would say get creative but also use a pen to draw your character. It looks better that way. I would also tell fellow comic book writers to be patient and trust the process, it took me a bit of time to complete but I am so proud of it. We are getting ready to order another Comic book kid, to publish my second comic book. My school also wants to order a few copies.
What do you like to do for fun?
For fun I love to mostly draw, I sing, and sometimes play basketball.
What comic books inspire you?
Dogman was a comic series that was amazing to me.
How do you like to set up your writing/drawing space?
I have this organized place for my art supplies and my art. I paint canvases, and have an entire canvas area to do that as well.
What do you want people to remember about your comic book?
That it is an entertaining way to teach life lessons. But I also want people to be happy to know that I am only in 5th grade, and I’m just getting started. So be on the lookout for more things I plan to publish and put into the world.
