Lulu Junior Author of the Month - Olivia A.
Summer is right around the corner, and we’re ready for it! Our June featured story is “A Fairy That Got A Unicorn,” written by Olivia. Curious where the magical journey will take us? Keep reading to find out!
We meet Gabriela, a fairy who lives in Fairyland and loves to pick strawberries. One day, she wishes for a unicorn. What happens a few days later? A shooting star passes, and the star promises to give the fairy a unicorn. The next day, her wish comes true! Now she has a unicorn as a pet, but what is she supposed to do with it? What do they eat? What do they play with?
She decides they should color. Well… turns out this is not such a good idea. The unicorn makes a huge mess and eats her favorite crayon. Gabriela takes a bunch of crayons and puts them on the horn. This leads to even more of a mess.
How is Gabriela going to clean up the mess? Her birthday party is in two days. She needs help to make sure everything is clean in time! She remembers the unicorn has magical powers and can pick up everything. Phew! The unicorn cleans up everything in a minute. Gabriela now understands that the horn has all of the superpowers inside of it.
It’s time for Gabriela to get ready for her 10th birthday party. She isn’t sure who is coming; there are so many fairies, who will she invite? She decides to invite her whole 5th-grade class and her teacher, Mrs. Becca. Gabriela hands out invitations to everyone in her class. Her friends are excited to attend the first birthday of the year. It’s going to be so much fun!
All her friends show up to the party and bring lots of presents. It’s a pool party full of fun! They are going to eat cake, play with the unicorn piñata, swim, and open presents.
Gabriela is going first to try and break the piñata. She wonders who will be the one to bust it to get to all the chocolate. She wants to eat every piece! Troy busts the piñata, but Gabriela gets the most chocolate. Yum! Her mom says she has to share it, but she still ends up with a lot.
Everyone is happy, and it’s time to go swimming! A few people have to wear floaties, but Gabriela can swim without them. It’s time for everyone to get out of the pool because their cold and it’s gift time! All her friends want their gift opened first, and Gabriela decides on the order of Olivia, Troy, Carolyn, Sharpay, and so on.
The party is over, and it’s time to clean up. Everyone leaves their goggles behind, but the good news is that tomorrow is the last day of school, so Gabriela can return their things then. On the last day of school, everyone is sad and says goodbye.
But the next day is the first day of summer! Gabriela is sad because she misses her friend, but her mom says, “Let’s have a playdate!” It’s time for a great summer!
Big thank you to Olivia for sharing her story with us! It sounds like Gabriela is all set for an awesome summer. Want to hear more from the author? Don’t miss out on Olivia’s interview below!
