Lulu Junior Author of the Month - Lennox Simms
Welcome to March! There’s a lot to look forward to; we’ve got St. Patrick’s Day, the beginning of Spring (FINALLY, goodbye winter), and can we say Easter? Easter egg hunts, Easter baskets, LOTS of candy, can it get any better for a kid?
Not only does it bring us a month full of awesomeness but we’ve also got a great, imaginative author to feature this month! Lennox Simms created the story “Jack, Tracks and the Baby Monster.”
Tracks the train and Jack the driver are chugging along on the railroad when they encounter a little green monster! They had to come to a complete stop as they realized that the little monster was destroying the tracks. This wasn’t good! They wouldn’t be able to continue their journey.
As they tried to figure out what was wrong the little monster busted out in tears as she said, “I want my mommy!” The poor little monster was acting out because she had lost her mother and needed help.
But no need to fear! Tracks and Jack were here to save the day and help their new friend find her mom! But first, they had to fix the railroad track that the monster had damaged. In no time Jack was able to repair the track and everyone was excited to start on their new adventure.
Their adventure took them very high up on a mountain that was covered in snow and the group encountered a blizzard! Tracks the train was getting so cold, icicles began to form and were hanging off of him.
The friends were faced with a new unfortunate problem...poor Tracks’ wheels had frozen! They had to think fast and figure out just what they were going to do. They had to find little monster’s mom.
The little monster came up with the perfect idea, she could breathe out fire! The little monster was now the new hero, blowing fire on the wheels completely got rid of all the icicles.
“Choo choo, off they go again to find the little monster’s mommy.”
They started to head down the mountain fast, and started going so much faster that they were getting scared at the speed they were going...but as they came to the bottom of the mountain guess who was there?! Little green monster’s mom! They had found her and everyone was safe!
WHAT A RELIEF! An unlikely match of new friends who went on a spur of the moment and crazy adventure.
Thank you so much for sharing your story with us Lennox! We can’t wait to see and hear what you come up with next!

Santa got the Lulu Jr. Kit for me this past Christmas.
Yes! I love to write because I like to read and writing helps me read better.
I have always loved trains and the idea just popped into my head.
When the monster finally found her mommy.
I felt proud.
I dedicated the book to my kindergarten teacher because she inspired me to read and to my older sister Nadia because she is an awesome sister and I just love her and she plays with me a lot.
I would like people to remember me and who I am because I am going to keep writing books.
Always use your imagination and do it from the heart.
It will be about airplanes.
