How to Make a Sock Puppet
Have you ever looked at a pair of socks and thought, “This could be a puppet!” Well, you’re not wrong and I am here to tell you how easy it is to make one. With just a few supplies, you can have your very own sock puppet! Follow along to learn more.
Supplies:
- Sock
- Measuring tape
- Pom-poms
- Googly eyes
- Felt
- Yarn or string for the hair
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
- Hot glue sticks
- Optional: any fun materials you would like to use to create your puppet
Step One: Creating Your Puppet’s Mouth
Plug in your hot glue gun and get it warmed up. Grab your sock and put it on your hand. Notice the natural mouth that is created when it is on your hand. Measure the length of the mouth in order to cut the felt for the inside of puppets mouth. Now cut your felt to fit inside the mouth. Get an adult to help you with the hot glue gun and glue the felt inside the mouth.
- Warm your hot glue gun
- Put a hand in the sock and find the ‘mouth’
- Add felt for the puppet’s mouth
Step Two: Create Your Puppet’s Eyes
- Add pom-poms
- Add googly eyes
Step Three: Create Your Puppet’s Hair
Get your string or yarn and glue your puppets hair on top of the head. This is a fun chance to get creative with your hairstyle. Do you want long hair, short hair, or a ponytail? The possibilities are endless!
- Trim yarn for puppet’s hair
